Credit cards - some pros and cons

It’s hard imagining life in today’s world without a credit card. It’s no joke trying to order tickets for the theatre without your American Express card, if like me you have cancelled it. Some of the basic things I took for granted were lost to me, even the simple act of buying a plane ticket to Florida. Not that many years ago, people preferred cash to credit, but not now.

All across the country and the world, people are using their Visa, Mastercard card, or American Express credit card to make purchases with money that they do not have of goods which they may not need. How many people consider the cost of paying later when they have the convenience of having now, when using their American Express credit card. Money owed to credit card companies is increasing everywhere. One of the largest problems facing America today is that of credit card debt.

This is the primary reason I decided to cancel my American Express credit card recently. I found it too easy using my card and spending money that wasn’t mine to spend. Charging everything to my card was stupid because before too long the debts just spiraled out of control. Panic kicked in when I found I could no longer pay the debt.

It took a debt consultancy specialist to finally get me back into a position where I actually started to pay my debt off. It was an awful situation I found myself in. It took some time but the American Express credit card has gone and so has my debt. A lot of people would think that it is rash to blame it on my credit card, but I think that they do not understand something about human psychology.

You have more control when you see the cash actually coming out of your pocket. Like I said before you are not as conscious of the cost when you use your credit card. Spending money like it was going out of fashion and it didn’t take long before it was gone. Now there is no American Express credit card; so no problem.
